" for creating article links">
The handling of this variable is similar to <CatalogNr> only that <art00020PrimNrExt> refers to the article number part of the URL string in the generated HTML code, which identifies one particular article link. When generating HTML code this tag <art00020PrimNrExt> is replaced by a string representing the value of this variable, which is the article number for each article link.
Please note that beside the variable art00020PrimNrExt any other article field representing an article number can be used instead. It all only depends where your appropriate article number is stored.
This value becomes a part of the URL string, which is used to refer to another page or which is sent to a server engine (like PHP or ASP) to refer to a specific database record.
This value is always important, if you want the user of your web site to identify an article by double-clicking on it and thereby to start a subsequent processing. The value connected to this tag will be sent to the web server, it will be interpreted there and will start the action defined by this program. This could, for example, be the delivery of more detailed information about this article in form of another HTML page or it could be an action on a web server to use this article number as a value for any type of e-commerce in the broader sense.
If you simply want to make your pages visible on the internet in HTML and you do not want any subsequent processing by a web server, then you do not need this value inside your HTML code.
In the case of article numbers this subject is insofar a little bit more complex as there are several different article numbers to choose from. This is why we have created a simple form of telling the Clickcat HTML Generator, which article number field to use: You just include the name of the article number variable in your system, which is supposed to use. This is the name of the variable that you are using as your primary article number and also the one into which you have imported (article data import) or manually entered your primary article number values. Normally this should be the field art00020PrimNrExt but you were/are free to use any other article number field.
